one of the stand out tracks from osunlades excellent artist album elelments beyond from early 2007 hits the shelves with a plethora of remixes from dj gregory, deetron and manoo stella. dj gregory does what he does best, building and layering tribal rhythms with techy beats with a touch of off key xylophone action thrown in for good measure. the manoo stella mix starts deep before big pads and synths take it in a near progressive direction, while deetron strips things right back and does away with most of the vocal for a pounding house rhythm perfect for the late night clubs. a great track made better by a set of slick remixes makes this a promising start to 2008 for strictly rhythm and osunlade.

after the big success about >lift me up< - co-produced with brown sugar - niko de luka now releases his new imprint >good night< with dawn tallman on the microphone. just like his recent releases and remixes he focuses on dawns beautiful soulful vocals that bulid a perfect match with his funky beat programming. nikos roots reach back to the year 1995, as he - influenced by the us house of masters at work, roger sanchez and danny tenaglia - startsspinning the records. in 1998 his first >rich vibes< e.p. is signed by scorpio music france and opens up the doors for international dj bookings. after a short time in barcelona, niko de luka founds his own label, kaa recordings, and gains success with his mix of deep baslines, funk and latin.

this time again offering some delightful grooves that will be appreciated both by the dance floor crowd and home listeners. nicely starting off the ep is berlin based greek producer ekkohaus - on his second tune for the label with a very detroit-influenced track, massive elements of groove and funk, exploding half-way through and teasing the listener as the snare/clap comes in on the half beat. this tune will be largely enjoyed by both techno and house fanatics. next one on the list is italian marco shuttle, offering a slightly different approach with his deep, long & repetitive journey of soft synth chords and elegant elements that remind of cadenza releases, providing a perfect tune for the after-hours or stylish warm up. on the flip we find ourselves with a huge tune from queen atom, perfect for the peak time hours in those big packed club rooms: a combination of detroit-esque funk, with trippy back melodies and percussive 909 toms waving through the atmosphere, resulting in a dark yet groovy slow-tempo techno piece. strikingly finishing off the ep is argentinean artist rudolf, already known for his previous releases on sthlm, who delivers an enormous experimental track with intensely layered vocal melodies: eerie, ghostly and combined with many industrial aspects, the result is an immense bubbly, watery track that will indisputably drive clubbers insane throughout the globe.

the original mix of tape replay is nearly nine minutes long and can only be described as a journey. its the perfect transition track, able to turn minimal sets into future disco, a house set into electro-funk, a techno set into a live jam-a-thon or a rigid set of any kind (like too many these days) into something with emotional depth. for remix duties we have enlisted our favorite producers will saul & tam cooper from simple records. much like their tech-house revision of phoniques bang, recently released on dessous, here on fresh meat they have put together a subtle yet bassy response to the wow & flutter original. the track builds and builds and at about three fourths through it explodes with lush keys, rich pads and a breakdown thats executed perfectly. these gents are on point and we are more than excited to have them along for the trip.

after his first release on flash recordings together with daso on the night express ep, pawas is now back with his very own three-track ep on the label of koletzki & meindl. all tracks were created in pune in india, pawas’ hometown, and the ep is about three different characters. alicia, charlie and edward. each one of them has a certain distinctive vibe about them: alicia is deep and eloquent, edward is more hectic and restless while charlie seems the funky and witty sort. in terms of music, edward is carried on a powerful, deep synthie melody, a big breathing bassline and some great percussive clicks and clacks that turn into a slightly ravey minimal burner later on in the tune. very hot! edward is a little lighter and is pushed forward by a great funky melody that creates the perfect after hour moment. imagine yourself on the beach when the sun is coming up. alicia on the a side is a deeper, more housy affair has a melodic, percussive and detroity appeal. pawas has managed to create a very fresh and unique signature sound and with releases on squonk, connaisseur and flash records, 2007 seems to be the year for him.
